  • Sauna use has been linked to benefits such as reduced blood pressure, detoxification, muscle recovery, relaxation, stress relief and improved mood.

    There is also a social element to the sauna that can be very beneficial.

  • It is best to arrive 10 minutes early so you can shower and change and make the most of your time slot.

    Particularly try to arrive on time or early to Lingholm sessions as we will meet you at a meeting point and guide you to the sauna.

  • Another Place, The Lake hotel;

    You are able to use the 'Sheep shed' changing area located in the lower car park if you need to.

    Once you are changed, follow the path to our little trailer from the car park.

    Lingholm Estate;

    Please come prepared for a wild change as we are completely off-grid. Toilets are accessible in the cafe.

  • Our saunas are wood-fired using a traditional Finnish log-burner.

    Our logs are sourced from a local family-run business, T. J. Ewbank. As a company they are committed to the environment and work with the woodland trust to replant trees here in Cumbria.

  • Our sauna at Another Place, The Lake seats 8 people in a social session. If hiring the full sauna privately, we allow up to 2 extra guests. (Maximum 10 persons).

    Our sauna at Waterside Campsite/Lingholm Estate seats 5 people in a social session. If hiring the full sauna privately, we allow 1 extra guest. (Maximum 6 persons).

  • The sauna will be nice and hot for your arrival. You can choose whether to start cold by taking a plunge, or jump straight into the löyly (Finnish word for steam rising from hot stones).

    The beauty of having an hour-long session is being able to take it slow. Enjoy 3-4 rounds of steam followed by cooling down in the fresh Cumbrian air, the plunge pool or even a dip in the lake.

    There is a sand timer in the sauna, your time in the heat could be between 5-15 minutes. It is important that you listen to what your body needs.

    Enjoy hanging out with your friends, meeting new people, or having some quiet reflection. The glass door and window allow you to marvel at the view of the fells and lake. When your session is over, there is a hot shower in the Sheep Shed and beautiful coffee available in the Another Place, The Lake hotel (or Lingholm Garden Kitchen).

  • Before booking, you will read the terms and conditions. It is imperative that if you have any health conditions or concerns, you speak to a doctor before attempting to use the sauna.

  • Yes! Drop in appointments may pop up, so keep an eye on our instagram page (@fellsidesauna) but these are rare. To avoid disappointment, please book your space using our booking page.

    If we do have walk-in spaces, we can take a contactless payment but please leave enough time to fill out the waiver.

  • We would love to see your pictures and videos from your visit to Fellside Sauna, so please tag us (@fellsidesauna) but PLEASE be considerate of other sauna users.

    Do not capture anyone on camera who does not wish to be filmed, and your phone will not withstand the heat of the sauna for too long, so keeping your time taking snaps to the beginning and end of your session might be an idea.

    Please be mindful that people will be coming to relax and sometimes putting the tech down is the best way to do that.

  • There is no alcohol permitted in the sauna. It is also important that you are not intoxicated for your session.

    We are committed to wellbeing, so leave the alcohol and substances behind.

  • Yes, please. Ideally, bring 2 towels - one to sit on in the sauna and one to dry yourself after your session.

  • If you cancel or reschedule giving less than 48-hours notice, you will not be eligible for a refund.

    If you are able to give 48-hours or more notice, then you can receive a refund or reschedule your slot.

    IMPORTANT - when rescheduling, ensure that you have moved all appointments if moving more than one as this is done individually.

  • No! There is no obligation to immerse yourself in the cold water.

    However, cooling down between sauna sessions is important, so you can hang out in the fresh air and enjoy the scenery instead.

  • I provide some storage boxes but space is limited so just bring what you need. Items are left at your own risk.

  • Please wear a swimsuit. It is a good idea to check that it does not have any metal parts as these will heat up.

    Nudity is not permitted in the sauna.

  • We welcome anyone 16 years and older in our shared sessions.

    Under 16s are only allowed in our Waterside Sauna within a Private session with a responsible adult.

    Maximum time in the sauna is reduced to 7 minutes and we do not recommend plunging fully in the lake. The responsibility for cold plunging is with the adult supervising, Fellside Sauna take no responsibility for choices made.

  • This is something that we allow at Another Place, The Lake as their grounds are dog friendly. However, we do ask that if your dog is barking or disrupting the session at all, that you take them for a walk away from the sauna. Keep in mind people come to us for a relaxing hour.
